First Selichot Prayers Held at Beit El Yeshiva
The Beit El Yeshiva, a prominent religious institution, held its first Selichot prayers of the season late Saturday night, commencing at 12:30 AM. The prayers were led by the Rosh Yeshiva (head of the yeshiva), Rabbi Zalman Baruch Melamed, who delivered a special address to students and congregants in anticipation of the High Holy Days.
Following Rabbi Melamed's address, the Ashkenazi Selichot prayers were recited. Selichot, meaning 'forgiveness,' are penitential prayers recited in the period leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
