German Defense Exports to Israel Surge to €800 Million in Six Months

NEWSru Israel
Translated & summarized from NEWSru Israel by baba
The story · English

Germany's defense exports to Israel reached approximately 800 million euros in the first half of the year, according to data submitted by the German Ministry of Economy to the Bundestag. This figure represents a significant increase compared to the entire previous year, when Germany supplied Israel with 260 million euros worth of armaments.

The substantial sum is largely attributed to a major naval project, which includes the transfer of the "INS Dragon" submarine. This vessel is reportedly the largest submarine built by German shipyards since World War II.

An additional 154 million euros were allocated for the transfer of knowledge and technology to Israeli companies involved in German-Israeli projects for the German Bundeswehr. The remaining amount covers "other military goods," such as ammunition and communication equipment, rather than direct weaponry.

The data was released following a request from the left-wing opposition party Die Linke.
