Rabbi Yosef Chaim's Legacy Celebrated at Jerusalem Event

A gathering was held in Jerusalem to commemorate the yahrzeit (anniversary of death) of Rabbi Yosef Chaim, known as the "Ben Ish Chai." The event featured prominent rabbis who spoke about the revered Sephardic sage's vast knowledge of Torah and Jewish mysticism. Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Sofer, head of the "Kaf Hachaim" yeshiva, discussed Rabbi Yosef Chaim's teachings on the redemptive power of Torah study, even for those who have sinned, and emphasized the importance of guarding one's tongue from slander.

Rabbi Yosef Eliyahu, head of a rabbinical court in Givat Shaul, also participated in the commemoration. During the event, a new edition of "Siddur Rav Yosef Chaim," a prayer book used by the Ben Ish Chai, was released. This edition includes a facsimile of the original prayer book and an introduction detailing Rabbi Yosef Chaim's views on prayer customs and his influence on prayer books, particularly regarding the importance of the prayer order established by Rabbi Isaac Luria.

The new siddur was published by Rabbi Yeshu'a Salem and Rabbi Yosef Chaim Mizrahi, publisher of "Od Yosef Chai." The attending rabbis examined the newly published siddur and received it with great enthusiasm.
