Protester to Face Terror Incitement Charges Over Anti-Netanyahu Posts

Dr. Iolanda Yavor, a biblical studies researcher and Tel Aviv University lecturer, is set to be indicted for terror incitement following social media posts critical of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The decision by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and State Attorney Amit Issar, pending a hearing, stems from two posts made approximately 10 months ago.

In the posts, Yavor referenced the armed uprising that led to the execution of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. She wrote, "The only choice facing us is to fight the traitor, his mouthpieces, his cursed collaborators, and his 'Freikorps' militias with all strength and all means, or cease to exist. Choose wisely, my brothers and sisters. There will be no repeat. We said 'democracy or revolt,' remember? So, let's revolt. But a real one, imported from Romania, not from AliExpress-Kaplan Corner." She concluded with phrases like "Dictatorships are not overthrown by the ballot box," "Netanyahu is a traitor," and "We are coming to get you."

Yavor was initially arrested on suspicion of incitement and threats against Netanyahu. Sources close to Yavor claim that the Likud party exerted pressure to bring about her prosecution. Yavor is known as a protest activist against the current government.
