Kindergarten Classes Delayed After Father Threatens Teacher

Classes at the "Tidhar" kindergarten in Kiryat Haim will begin at 10:00 AM on Sunday, the Teachers Union announced, following a severe incident of physical violence and threats by a father against a teacher. The decision was made after a parent entered the kindergarten premises against regulations, pushed other parents, and shoved a teacher's aide who asked him to wait. The father then allegedly confronted the kindergarten teacher, shouting threats including "I will kill you" and vowing to enter the kindergarten and act as he pleased. He also threatened to prevent her from working with his child and to "educate" her and other parents. The father reportedly continued his aggressive behavior for about 20 minutes. Police and municipal supervision were called to the scene. Anat Dadon, chair of the early childhood division of the Teachers Union, stated that the teacher is the educational authority within the kindergarten and parents are partners, not decision-makers who can intervene through pressure or threats. She emphasized that the teacher acted appropriately to ensure children's safe departure. Edna David, deputy secretary-general of the Teachers Union and head of the Haifa branch, condemned the incident, asserting that a kindergarten is not a lawless area and parents cannot override a teacher's judgment or threaten them. She pledged full support to the teacher and all educators to ensure a safe working environment.
