Maccabi Netanya Nears Deal for Colombian Midfielder Johan Torres

Israeli football club Maccabi Netanya has confirmed they are on the verge of signing Colombian defensive midfielder Johan Torres. The club has submitted a €400,000 offer for the player, responding to fan criticism regarding a lack of new signings. Agent Avi Nimani is facilitating the deal, with the club hopeful of securing the player to address the need for a high-caliber midfielder.

This potential signing comes after previous attempts to recruit players failed, partly due to delays in negotiations managed by Max DeGilio, who has gained more trust from owner Ross Kattan since Gil Lev was sidelined. Despite a recent 4-1 victory over Beitar Jerusalem, coach Roni Levy remains focused on strengthening the squad further.

Lev is still pushing for the acquisition of foreign wingers and central defenders before the transfer window closes in 11 days. He is also considering his starting lineup for the upcoming match against Hapoel Haifa, with Karam Jaber potentially returning to the starting XI, which could see Amit Cohen shift to left-back. Bassam Zaroura has increased his training intensity and might be included in the squad.
