Russia Aids Iran in Developing Supersonic Missile Engines, FT Reports

Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya has been secretly guiding Iran's program to develop ramjet engines for supersonic anti-ship missiles since 2023, according to a Financial Times investigation. This collaboration marks a shift from Russia previously selling finished missiles to now transferring advanced design knowledge. This transfer aims to enhance Iran's independent capability to produce advanced threats, particularly targeting U.S. aircraft carriers and posing a risk to Israel's regional security.

Concurrently, "mined drones" and other hazardous aerial incidents have been reported near Ukrainian An-124 transport aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Europe. Analysts suggest this is part of a broader Russian strategy to create a "systemic crisis of chronic overload" for the United States and NATO.

The Kremlin's objective appears to be diverting U.S. and NATO resources and attention across multiple global hotspots, including the Baltics, Taiwan, and the Persian Gulf. This strategy aims to deplete scarce resources like Patriot missiles and force significant spending on infrastructure security, thereby diluting focus on the conflict in Ukraine.
