Israeli Lawmaker Michal Shir Segman Not Seeking Re-election
Member of Knesset Michal Shir Segman of the Yesh Atid party announced on Tuesday that she will not be running in the upcoming elections. Segman stated that "now is the time to act for the state and people of Israel on additional fronts." She informed Yesh Atid chairman and former Prime Minister Yair Lapid of her decision, expressing her full confidence in him and her party colleagues. Segman affirmed her continued support for the party and the need for "substantial change and repair in Israel."
Segman, who has served in the Knesset since 2019, did not elaborate on her future plans beyond seeking to contribute to Israel in other capacities. Her departure marks a notable change within the Yesh Atid party as it prepares for the next general election.
