Wildfire Threatens Gush Etzion Homes, Evacuations Underway
A wildfire broke out Friday near the Gush Etzion settlement of Giv'ot, spreading rapidly towards the community due to strong winds. Firefighters and volunteers from the Judea regional station of the National Fire and Rescue Authority are battling the blaze, deploying teams both inside and outside the settlement. Four firefighting planes from the Elad squadron have been dispatched to assist in the containment efforts.
The incident commander ordered the evacuation of the first line of homes closest to the fire's path. Firefighting forces are continuing their operations on the ground, working to prevent the flames from reaching residential structures. Further details are expected to be released shortly.
