The Water Authority proposed a method involving the aerial spraying of substances over algae in the Mediterranean Sea. This proposal was submitted to the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Discharge Permits, chaired by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, for approval.
Both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection reviewed the proposed substances. The approval included specific restrictions on the location and method of dispersal. The substances were applied in controlled quantities and are designed to disperse and degrade rapidly in the water.
