Key Figures May Exit United Torah Judaism List for Knesset

A significant shake-up is anticipated for the United Torah Judaism party's slate ahead of the 26th Knesset elections, with prominent figures Moshe Gafni and Uri Maklev reportedly set to be removed from the list. This potential departure marks the first time since 1988 that the rabbis of the Degel HaTorah faction are initiating such a drastic change to the party's composition.

Should Gafni be removed, MK Yaakov Asher is expected to take his place at the head of the Degel HaTorah faction, leading the unified list according to existing political agreements. The party is also considering new candidates for lower positions on the list, with Moshe Rosenthal, a close associate of the movement's leadership and a management official in the Bnei Brak municipality, being a notable possibility.

Additionally, United Torah Judaism is awaiting a decision regarding the future of MK Yisrael Eichler. Meanwhile, ministers Yitzhak Goldknopf and Meir Porush, along with MK Yaakov Tessler, are expected to continue their terms in the Knesset.
