Gazan Resident Recounts Harrowing Nova Party Rescue, Addresses Photo Controversy

Oz Davidian, a resident of the Gaza border region, has spoken out about his experience during the October 7th Hamas attacks, during which he rescued dozens of people from the vicinity of the Supernova music festival. Davidian explained that he took a photograph that morning, which later sparked controversy and conspiracy theories, because he wanted to document the scale of the event and prompt a larger response. The photo, which included former IDF Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan, led to speculation focusing on a reflection in the background, which some interpreted as evidence of a cover-up.

Davidian described the intense moments of heroism displayed by civilians that day, stating, "We are a nation of heroes, and on that day many heroes went south and were killed. Among them are people who were photographed with a smile and were killed." He recounted how he repeatedly went under heavy fire to save lives, demonstrating exceptional resourcefulness and courage.

During his rescue efforts, Davidian encountered retired Major General Yair Golan, who was also operating in the area. The two joined forces, with Davidian stating, "We went inside to the party area, he secured me and we took out the children. I wanted them to believe me that a Major General in the IDF had arrived."
