Weapons Cache Found in Rahat Butcher Shop, Four Arrested

Police in Rahat, a city in southern Israel, discovered a significant weapons cache hidden within a butcher shop on Thursday. During a raid conducted by officers from the Rahat station and the Sahar unit, authorities found a Glock pistol, magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition concealed in a bag in the shop's storeroom.

Four suspects, all residents of Rahat, were arrested in connection with the discovery and taken for questioning by the Southern District police. In a separate incident during the same operation, police stopped a vehicle that sped into a driveway upon noticing the officers. A search of this car revealed an M-16 rifle, four magazines, and additional ammunition.

This bust is part of an ongoing police effort to combat illegal weapons possession and crime in Rahat. Just two days prior, on Tuesday, police found weapons and ammunition, including a Glock pistol and 5.56mm rounds, hidden in bags at a Rahat kindergarten. Two suspects, aged 38 and 40, were arrested in that incident.

In another unrelated crime bust, police apprehended three young men, aged 18, 19, and 20, driving a stolen Porsche in Rahat on Wednesday. The luxury vehicle was spotted during a police operation targeting property crimes in the city.
