PM's Advisor and Former Spokesperson Clash Over Secret Document

A heated confrontation occurred in April 2025 between Yonatan Urich, an advisor to the Prime Minister, and Eli Feldstein, a former spokesperson, over a secret document. The eight-minute exchange, which required special approval from the Attorney General and State Prosecutor, involved shouting and accusations regarding Urich's knowledge and role in leaking a classified document to the German newspaper Bild. Feldstein, who was already indicted in November 2024 along with Ari Rosenfeld in the Qatargate affair, claimed Urich had seen the document and authorized its transfer to a person referred to as "the Chassid." Feldstein stated, "If Yonatan Urich had not authorized me to transfer this document to Sherulik Einhorn, I would not have transferred it to him," asserting the leak's purpose was publication in Bild.

Urich vehemently denied Feldstein's account, telling investigators, "The first time I saw the document in question was here, in this room." He further insisted he did not know its source and read it for the first time in the interrogation room, questioning why he was being lied about. The discrepancy escalated into a direct confrontation, with Feldstein challenging Urich, "It's not a lie at all. It's me. Am I lying? Look at me and say I'm lying." Urich responded, "Why are you lying?" and added, "It doesn't help you. It only hurts me. I am in detention because of these lies. Only because of this."

Feldstein persisted in his version of events, attempting to reconstruct how Urich allegedly saw the document. Investigators intervened, eventually removing Feldstein from the room. Following Feldstein's exit, Urich expressed his distress, saying, "I haven't seen my daughter for a week because of his lies," before standing up and throwing a chair. An investigator then told Urich, "He is not lying."
