Jerusalem Police Crack Down on Traffic Violations, Targeting Delivery Cyclists and Bus Drivers

Traffic police in Jerusalem's central district conducted a targeted enforcement operation in southern and eastern Jerusalem, issuing tickets to drivers and motorcyclists, launching investigations, and removing two faulty vehicles from the road. In the southern part of the city, officers, assisted by the YSM Jerusalem's Raqia unit, focused on motorcycle couriers. Five couriers were fined for traffic offenses, including riding on sidewalks and making illegal U-turns.

In another incident, a driver was detained and investigated on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of prohibited substances. Separately, a bus driver was filmed allegedly using a mobile phone while driving, endangering passengers and other road users. Police located the driver following the footage and brought him in for questioning.

Authorities also took action against a driver suspected of participating in a wedding procession that disrupted traffic on Begin Highway last weekend. The driver was identified with the help of the "Mabat Yerushalayim" control center, interrogated, and ticketed for obstructing traffic.

In eastern Jerusalem, two tickets were issued for vehicle defects, leading to the removal of two cars from the road. Another driver was fined 3,000 shekels for running a red light, which was determined to be a repeat offense. The police stated that enforcement activities will continue with visible and undercover units, employing technological means to reduce life-threatening violations, maintain public order, and protect road users.
