Lod court says Gotliv has no blanket immunity in Bresler defamation suit
The Lod District Court ruled that Knesset member Tali Gotliv has only limited immunity in a defamation case filed by Shikma Bresler over the disclosure of her partner’s identity as a Shin Bet employee.
In its decision, the court said Gotliv may criticize Bresler, but a deliberate exposure of the identity of a security service member is not protected. The judges wrote that under these circumstances, it cannot be determined at the preliminary stage that the publications are immune from suit, and further examination is needed.
Bresler filed the lawsuit in February 2024 against Gotliv and six other online activists, seeking 2.6 million shekels in damages for defamation.
