Oded Kattash: "Jimmy Clark will play on Friday." And what about Tamir Blatt? The Maccabi Tel Aviv coach summed up the game and addressed the injured players. Hord: "The final? It will be like hell". Sports 5, published: 10.06.26, 23:22
Win from the final. Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Holon 74:84 this evening (Wednesday) and took a 0:2 lead in the playoff semifinal series. This came thanks to a huge career-best performance from Jaylen Hord, who finished the game with 30 points, 15 rebounds and a 35 efficiency rating.
The yellow team coach, Oded Kattash, said in summary: "I think defensively we did a much better job for many minutes. Two games in 48 hours, we did not come in with many guards and Tamir Blatt's injury disrupted our plans, we hope it is not a major blow. We grabbed a lot of rebounds, Jaylen was tremendous."
On what led to the win: "We made adjustments, before the game we talked about their transition game, our post defense was good and we executed better defensively. Offensively, once Tamir got injured we had to do things we are not used to. We won by using our size, offensive rebounding, they also did not shoot well."
The coach added: "Blatt's condition? I am buying the scenario that it will be only for one game and no more. We hope Jimmy Clark will return and return well, he will play in the third game of the series."
Hord summed up the career-best performance: "I felt good helping the team. I just played with energy and aggressiveness and it helped the team, my teammates found me, the big men too. The goal is to finish the story in the next game. I think we can go all the way, if we reach the final it will be as hard as hell. The fans always bring amazing energy in every competition and give us a lot of strength."
