Israel Prepares for Escalation, Threatens Iranian Infrastructure

Israel is closely monitoring the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, following recent exchanges of fire. Defense officials are preparing for the possibility that Iran, facing increased military and economic pressure from the U.S., might retaliate against Israel. While Iran has so far avoided actions that could significantly broaden the conflict, Israeli security assessments suggest this could change as pressure mounts.

Concerns are rising that a combination of U.S. strikes, damage to Iran's military capabilities, and growing economic strain could push Tehran towards more extreme measures, including targeting Israel. A senior Israeli official told Channel 12 that if Israel is compelled to actively join the confrontation alongside the U.S., Israel's response could target Iran's strategic assets, specifically "national infrastructure and energy infrastructure."

The heightened tensions stem from a shift in U.S. policy regarding Iran's activities in the Strait of Hormuz. Under a new policy, approved by President Donald Trump and dubbed "tanker for tanker," the U.S. military attacked two Iranian oil tankers. This strike was part of a broader U.S. operation against approximately 100 Iranian targets, including air defense systems, radar, naval assets, mine-laying capabilities, communication sites, and missile launchers.

U.S. officials stated the operation aims to reduce Iran's ability to threaten ships and U.S. forces in the Strait of Hormuz while increasing military and economic pressure on the regime. Trump warned of a more extensive U.S. response if Iran retaliates against American forces. The Israeli military and U.S. forces are conducting daily situation assessments and adjusting operational plans based on intelligence.

Israel is also closely watching Iran's regional activities and its potential to expand the conflict through proxies. The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem issued a warning to American citizens due to the "potential for unexpected escalation," citing concerns about airspace closures and travel disruptions.

President Trump commented on the situation, stating the U.S. is prepared for further strikes and possesses significant intelligence capabilities, asserting, "We see everything they do. They can't go to the bathroom without us seeing it."
