Ramat Gan Train Service Halted Due to Brush Fire

A significant brush fire erupted in Ramat Gan on the evening of Wednesday, September 2, near the city stadium. Dry vegetation caught fire in an open area, with flames quickly spreading across the Yarkon River to the area of the Maccabiah Bridge and the athletics complex. The blaze prompted a temporary halt to train services.

Seven firefighting crews were dispatched to combat the fire, working to contain multiple ignition points on both sides of the river. A local resident, Oded Ilan, described seeing strong flames from his apartment window, which quickly subsided. He captured footage of a train passing near the fire.

Israel Railways confirmed that train movement was suspended due to the fire near the railway line by the Bnei Brak station. Service disruptions, including delays, affected the Gush Dan and Sharon line routes. The company stated that normal operations would resume once the fire department gave clearance.

The fire was extinguished around 10:30 PM after approximately three hours of firefighting efforts. No injuries were reported, and the circumstances surrounding the fire's origin are under investigation. There is suspicion of arson, with three fires reported in Ramat Gan.
