Train Traffic Halted as Brush Fire Rages Along Yarkon River

A brush fire burned for three hours on Wednesday evening along the banks of the Yarkon River in Ramat Gan, between the Ramat Gan Stadium and the training stadium behind the Ayalon Mall, near the Maccabiah Bridge. The fire spread across both sides of the river due to dry brush and vegetation.

Seven firefighting and rescue teams worked to extinguish the blaze. Train traffic in the area was halted due to the proximity of the fire to the tracks, near Bnei Brak, causing delays and changes to services in the Sharon Ring area. Train movement resumed after the fire was put out and firefighters received approval from the fire department.

One resident, Oded Ilan, who lives across the road from the athletics stadium, witnessed the fire from his home. He described seeing the flames intensify and noted that a train passed by the fire, a moment captured in footage. Firefighters completed their final extinguishing efforts and conducted searches to ensure no one was trapped.

The public was asked to avoid the area. The fire was fully extinguished after three hours.
