Brush Fire Halts Train Traffic Along Yarkon River
A large brush fire broke out Wednesday evening on both banks of the Yarkon River in Ramat Gan, near the Maccabiah Bridge, between Ramat Gan Stadium and the training field behind Ayalon Mall. Seven firefighting and rescue crews from the Dan district are working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby train tracks and structures.
The fire spread across both sides of the river due to the abundance of dry brush and weeds, according to the Fire and Rescue Services. As a precautionary measure, train traffic in the area has been suspended due to the flames' proximity to the tracks.
No injuries or damage to buildings have been reported at this time. The public has been asked to avoid the area to allow emergency forces to operate unimpeded. The resumption of train services has not yet been announced.
