Ofer Winter Rejects Netanyahu's Offer for Likud List Spots

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's associates attempted to arrange a meeting between Netanyahu and Ofer Winter, chairman of the 'Am Israel' party, to discuss potential unity and reserved spots on the Likud list. However, Winter refused to engage, stating there was "nothing to talk about," according to Kan News. The Likud party was reportedly prepared to offer Winter all five remaining reserved slots on their Knesset list, with four of them positioned before the 30th spot, in exchange for him withdrawing his independent candidacy.

Winter has not formally received the offer as he declined the initial conversation. Earlier on Wednesday, Winter addressed the press, indicating he was not closing the door on potential alliances. He emphasized that any such unions would only be with "new and clean people" who prioritize "the good of the people of Israel." He added that anyone not "tainted by October 7th" and seeking to change the discourse that led to the "terrible massacre" would be welcome.

Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich urged a unification of all parties to the right of the Likud. Speaking on Kan News radio, Smotrich reiterated his call for broader connections, specifically addressing Itamar Ben-Gvir and Ofer Winter. "I appeal to you, Ofer, do not take risks," Smotrich implored Winter, expressing great admiration for his work and contributions to Israel.
