Turkish Foreign Minister Calls Netanyahu 'Enemy of Humanity'

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan launched a strong verbal attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, labeling him an "enemy of security and humanity" and accusing him of committing "genocide." The remarks were made during a press conference following the inaugural meeting of a committee to implement the Joint Defense Agreement of Mecca, signed on August 7 by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. This agreement aims to enhance defense cooperation among the three nations.

Fidan emphasized that the Mecca agreement is not directed at any specific country, stating that its members intend to form a "reciprocal alliance capable of solving problems and open to expansion." He further clarified that the pact is defensive in nature and complementary to NATO. A roadmap is reportedly being developed to facilitate the accession of new countries to the alliance.

The agreement brings together three Sunni powers allied with the United States, amid a shifting security landscape in the Middle East and ongoing regional tensions. The report also briefly mentions the existence of a Hamas cell in Turkey, with dozens of attacks reportedly foiled by Israeli services.
