Israel Prepares for Iranian Attack, Considers Joint Operations with US

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are maintaining a high state of readiness amid concerns of a potential sudden attack from Iran, according to a senior security source cited by Walla. The IDF's Operations Directorate, led by Major General Itzik Cohen, has been operating at maximum alert for an extended period, enhancing rear-area defenses with technological improvements.

These preparations are occurring against the backdrop of Iranian strikes on U.S. military bases in Jordan. The head of the Operations Directorate has instructed relevant General Staff units to prepare for an unexpected scenario where Iran might target Israel. In such an event, the IDF might need to act independently or in coordination with the U.S. military.

The IDF Chief of Staff is reportedly reviewing and approving operational plans for both defensive and offensive actions every few days. Concurrently, Military Intelligence, under Major General Shlomi Binder, is continuously assessing and updating its early warning systems to detect potential attacks from Iran.

Security officials anticipate two primary readiness modes, depending on whether there is short or long notice before an attack, allowing for tailored responses. The IDF also emphasized that its coordination with the U.S. military remains at a peak level, with daily, round-the-clock interaction.
