Police Officer Charged with Assaulting Two Teenagers in Jerusalem

The Police Internal Investigations Department has filed an indictment against a police officer in the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for assaulting two 17-year-old youths. The officer, who served as a neighborhood liaison officer, was securing a Torah scroll dedication ceremony in Jerusalem with other officers.

According to the indictment, the officer intervened in a dispute that erupted outside the event hall. The dispute was between one of the event organizers and the two teenagers, who had come to demand their wages. The officer then approached one of the teenagers and demanded identification. When the teenager refused, the officer allegedly punched him forcefully in the chest and ribs, then knocked him to the ground and continued to strike his head.

The officer also assaulted the second teenager when he attempted to defend his friend. The indictment details charges of assault and battery against the officer.
