Smotrich says Israel has canceled the Hebron Accords
Finance Minister and Religious Zionism leader Bezalel Smotrich announced on Tuesday at the inauguration ceremony for the new settlement of Doran in the Hebron Hills that Israel had canceled the Hebron Accords. Speaking as a member of the security cabinet, he said, "Yesterday we canceled the Hebron Accords. For many years, one of the most absurd clauses of Oslo remained in force, when powers concerning the Jewish community in Hebron and the holy sites depended on the terror municipality of Hebron. Yesterday we put an end to that."
Smotrich said the move was "much more than a planning step" and called it "a historic correction." He said it was part of an ongoing campaign to advance settlement regularization, strengthen governance, and deepen Israeli sovereignty in the West Bank. The article does not say who else was involved in the decision or provide further details on how the cancellation will be implemented.
