Israeli Arab Man Charged With Drunk Driving Over 4x Legal Limit

Israeli police have filed charges against a 22-year-old man from the village of Wadi Salama in northern Israel after he was caught driving with a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit. The incident occurred on August 26 when officers on Route 85 observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road near the Ramat Junction, with no apparent reason.

During the traffic stop, officers noticed the driver had difficulty answering questions. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 972 micrograms per liter of exhaled air, significantly exceeding the legal threshold. Police also reported that the driver was holding a cup suspected to contain an alcoholic beverage while driving.

The driver was arrested for investigation, and his vehicle was impounded and suspended from use for 30 days. Following the investigation, prosecutors filed the indictment against him.
