IDF raid in Nablus area destroys 18 weapons-production lathes
The IDF said Tuesday morning that it carried out a targeted overnight counterterrorism operation in the Samaria Brigade area, between Sunday and Monday, focused on the Nablus region, especially Balata camp and Ras al-Ain. The raid was aimed at damaging combat infrastructure in the sector.
During the joint operation, fighters from the Yahalom elite engineering unit and reservists from Battalion 967 raided several sites and found 18 lathes used to manufacture weapons, including guns and explosive devices. The equipment was located in the middle of civilian areas.
The forces destroyed the lathes and also located and seized numerous weapon parts at the scene. The IDF said the placement of such infrastructure in the heart of a civilian population puts local residents at risk.
According to the military, the night operation was part of an ongoing effort to foil terrorism and reduce the production capabilities of terrorist organizations.
