Gabi Kanyukovsky Officially Signs With Maccabi Tel Aviv on Lucrative Deal

Maccabi Tel Aviv has officially signed midfielder Gabi Kanyukovsky to a new four-year contract, with the club announcing the deal just before their recent 3-1 victory over Maccabi Haifa. The announcement was strategically timed to boost fan morale following the team's European elimination. Kanyukovsky will earn €525,000 per season, a salary matching his previous earnings in Hungary. The club is paying €1.2 million for his transfer, and will also cover the taxes associated with his return to Israel after a year abroad.

Professional Sports Director Steven Nienhuis identified Kanyukovsky's return as a key objective even before his official appointment, having monitored the player and prioritizing his acquisition in initial discussions with owner Mitch Goldhar. The club views Kanyukovsky's integration alongside players like Isai Saar and Dor Peretz as a move to create the league's strongest midfield.
