Suspect Arrested for Attempting to Poison Infants with Contaminated Fruit Puree
Israeli authorities have revealed the identity of the primary suspect in the "Prinook" fruit puree poisoning case: Yan Shamla, a man in his 40s from southern Israel. Shamla is accused of intentionally contaminating the baby food with anesthetic substances, specifically Clonazepam, in an attempt to poison infants.
His arrest was extended by six days by the court on Wednesday. Police stated that Shamla acted deliberately, presenting video evidence found on his laptop that is related to the alleged crime. The Shin Bet security agency is also involved in the investigation.
The case came to light in June when four infants were hospitalized after consuming the contaminated "Prinook" fruit puree. The investigation suggests Shamla acted with the intent to harm babies, leading to the hospitalization of the young children. Shamla was apprehended at his home and is undergoing interrogation.
