Dramatic Footage Shows Hamas Security Chief Captured by Israeli Forces
Al Jazeera has released footage showing the moments before the commander of Hamas's internal security, Mu'ayyad Al-Arabi, was shot and captured by Israeli forces. Special operatives from the Shin Bet security agency were responsible for the operation, which took place near Gaza City under the command of the IDF's Southern Command.
The operation, which lasted several hours, involved targeted Israeli Air Force airstrikes to protect the ground forces. Al-Arabi was apprehended wounded near his home.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the arrest was a "bold operation" carried out by the IDF and Shin Bet. He described Al-Arabi as a senior Hamas leader responsible for concealing and transporting hostages, hiding other Hamas officials, and rebuilding the terrorist organization's capabilities. Netanyahu added that Al-Arabi had recently been involved in attempts to restore Hamas's governance in Gaza, deceive regarding the disarmament of the Strip, and facilitate terror attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.
