Golani Brigade Commanders Escort Children to First Day of School

All career soldiers in the Golani Brigade, whether stationed in the field or at headquarters, will accompany their children to school on September 1st, the first day of the academic year. This decision prioritizes family alongside operational duties, as stated by the Deputy Commander of the Golani Brigade, Colonel N. The initiative allows commanders and soldiers to be present for their children's first day of school.

Colonel N., 41, a father of four, shared his personal motivation, having missed significant family events due to his service. He described the past year as difficult, marked by distance and longing, but he made efforts to attend important occasions like birthdays and end-of-year parties when possible. He noted his daughter Maya, 6, who is starting first grade, is excited about her new school and classmates. He also conveyed a message to children whose parents remained on duty, assuring them their parents' absence was due to national necessity.

Battalion 12 Commander, Lieutenant Colonel A., 32, will escort his daughter Ella, also 6, to first grade. He explained that the brigade's directive balances mission accomplishment with the importance of its personnel and their families, who provide crucial support. He mentioned that Ella understands his role as a commander and that they are fighting against enemies, expressing pride in his service. He humorously recounted convincing Ella not to wear a shirt proclaiming 'My father is in Golani' on her first day.

Both commanders emphasized that while the mission remains paramount, the well-being of soldiers and their families is a close second priority. They expressed their hopes for their children to succeed, make friends, and enjoy their school years, highlighting that the fight is for a future with normalcy and education.
