Breslov Hasidim are preparing for a significantly expanded Rosh Hashanah gathering in Meron, Israel, for followers unable to travel to Uman, Ukraine, this year. The increased focus on Meron stems from the ongoing issue of draft evasion among Haredim, leading to the arrest of hundreds of yeshiva students and married men, many of whom are prevented from leaving Israel. While Meron has served as a quieter alternative for some Breslov followers in previous years, organizers anticipate a larger turnout this year due to these travel restrictions and concerns among some Hasidim.
