Truck Driver Flees Checkpoint, 18 Illegal Immigrants Found Hidden
Border Police officers at the Mismoriya checkpoint near Jerusalem apprehended 18 individuals found hidden in a double-bottom compartment of a truck. The incident began when the truck arrived at the checkpoint for inspection on Sunday. The driver, after initially stopping, suddenly accelerated and fled the scene, driving dangerously and causing damage to checkpoint infrastructure and two civilian vehicles.
Border Police forces initiated a pursuit, locating the truck shortly thereafter in the village of Al-Muntar. The driver abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot, prompting an ongoing search for him. During a search of the truck, officers discovered a hidden double bottom in its undercarriage, where the 18 individuals were concealed.
The 18 undocumented individuals were arrested and transferred for further processing and investigation. The truck was impounded.
