Widow of Fallen Kibbutz Leader Slams German Ambassador Over Gaza Aid

The story · English

Sigal Kraunik-Attia, widow of Arik Kraunik, the security officer of Kibbutz Be'eri who was killed defending the kibbutz on October 7th, has sharply criticized the German Ambassador to Israel, Alexander Lambsdorff. Kraunik-Attia, who is running for the "Am Yisrael" party led by Ofer Winter, addressed the ambassador publicly following the inauguration of an expensive magnetometer at the Erez Crossing.

She argued that the new screening equipment would not alleviate the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Gazans living in tents or rebuild the destroyed areas. Furthermore, she stated it does not address the needs of residents in the Gaza border region who are unwilling to live near their enemy any longer.

In response to Germany's involvement, Kraunik-Attia proposed an alternative solution to the ambassador. "If you and your country care so much about Gazans, then instead of investing tens of millions in magnetometers, why don't you simply announce that you agree to accept 100,000 Gazans in Germany?" she asked.

According to her, such a move would eliminate the need for magnetometers and address the root of the problem by caring for the residents of the Strip.
