Liberman Says Israel Should Task the Mossad With Toppling Iran's Regime
Yisrael Beiteinu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman sharply criticized Israel's handling of Iran on Monday morning, and also attacked the emerging agreement between Washington and Tehran. In an interview with Radio 103FM, he said Israel still has room to act, but in a very different direction from what has been done so far.
Liberman argued that if he were prime minister, he would give the Mossad a single mission. “There is a lot to do. I would give a directive to the Mossad. The Mossad needs to move to one task, toppling the regime,” he said. “If I am prime minister, I call in the head of the Mossad and say to him: ‘You are not dealing with anything, only with toppling the regime.’”
He added that past efforts were insufficient, saying, “I know the attempt they made, and it was a weak attempt.” He also warned that the developing US-Iran deal would not stop Iran’s nuclear program. “This agreement guarantees that in the end we will have a nuclear Iran,” he said.
Liberman rejected criticism of the United States, saying he had no complaints against the Americans. “There are people here who expect the United States to act according to the Israeli interest, that is not how it works,” he said. He also blamed Israel’s government for three years of inaction, saying the country’s “impotent government” spent that time on talk, declarations and its political agenda, and that “there has been no decision” for three years.
