Liberman Says Israel Should Task Mossad With Toppling Iran's Regime
Avigdor Liberman, chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu, said in a Tuesday interview with 103FM that the emerging agreement between the United States and Iran would, in his view, inevitably turn Iran into a nuclear power. He argued that removing the Iranian regime should become Israel's top priority.
"There is a lot to do. The first thing I would do is instruct the Mossad, the Mossad must switch to one mission, toppling the regime," Liberman said. He added that if he were prime minister, he would summon the Mossad chief and tell him, "You are not dealing with anything else, only with toppling the ayatollahs' regime."
Liberman also said Israel has "the best pilots in the world, brave and determined, and they did amazing work." He said an air force strike can be carried out in hours, but it still requires mobilizing crews, weapons and coordination.
He noted that such an operation would involve crossing the airspace of other countries and coordinating with the United States.
