Liberman Says Netanyahu Would Have Accused Former Government of Treason Over Iran Deal
Israel Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman said at the start of his faction meeting that if the agreement between the United States and Iran had been signed during the so-called “government of change,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have accused everyone involved of treason. He argued that the public understands the consequences of the deal and that Israel must formulate a response to what he called a diplomatic disaster unfolding before it.
Liberman said Israel should announce that it opposes any link between the Iranian and Lebanese fronts. He added that if rockets are fired at Israel, Israel should strike “all centers of gravity” in Beirut’s Dahieh district, the Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut.
He concluded that there should be no “safe zone” in Lebanon.
