Ultra-Orthodox Protesters Block Military Police Near IDF Recruitment Center
Dozens of ultra-Orthodox protesters blocked a military police vehicle on Sunday near the Tel HaShomer recruitment center in Ramat Gan, preventing it from continuing its journey. The protesters, who demonstrated against the conscription of ultra-Orthodox men into the IDF, sat on the road, obstructing the military police.
Large police forces were dispatched to the scene and extracted the military police personnel. The protest occurred concurrently with the arrival of dozens of young ultra-Orthodox men for enlistment into combat roles, including the Hasmonean Brigade, Netzah Yehuda, and Magen HaNegev.
Outside the enlistment complex, a vocal confrontation took place between opposing factions. Extreme anti-conscription protesters chanted "We will die and not enlist," while supporters of enlistment responded by singing "Am Yisrael Chai" (The People of Israel Live).
The protesters were demonstrating against the enlistment of ultra-Orthodox individuals into specific IDF tracks, which began that morning at the Tel HaShomer enlistment base.
