Ynet Global to Unveil 20 Israeli Breakthroughs Shaping the Future
Ynet Global is set to reveal its annual selection of 20 prominent Israeli breakthroughs that have either changed the world or are poised to shape the coming years. The special project, to be published simultaneously in Hebrew and English, is a collaboration with the Technion, Rafael, Sheba Medical Center, and Keter Group. It aims to showcase the breadth of Israeli innovation, highlighting not just the technologies and inventions but also the people, ideas, and stories behind them.
The chosen breakthroughs will span diverse fields where Israel has become a hub for research and development. These include life-saving medical advancements, defense technologies, artificial intelligence and computing developments, as well as innovations in food, agriculture, energy, transportation, space, and sustainability. The selection criteria prioritize innovation, the ability to solve real-world problems, existing impact, and future potential, rather than solely commercial success or exposure.
The project will feature both internationally recognized developments and newer ideas still on their path to everyday integration. Some innovations are already impacting millions globally, often without public awareness of their Israeli origins, while others are in early stages but represent novel approaches to long-standing issues and signal future trends.
Each featured breakthrough will include a look back at its inception: the need that sparked the idea, the researchers and entrepreneurs involved, the obstacles overcome, and the journey from concept to real-world technology. Collectively, these 20 selections will illustrate how innovation is generated in Israel, emphasizing the transition from academia to industry, the synergy between hospitals and tech companies, the utilization of defense sector experience, and the conversion of basic research into practical solutions. The project will reveal the full list and accompanying stories around Rosh Hashanah.
