Shin Bet Confirms Significant Iranian Assassination Threat Against Yair Netanyahu in Florida

The Shin Bet security agency confirmed on Saturday that Yair Netanyahu, the eldest son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, faced a significant assassination threat while staying in South Florida. Following a security assessment, a decision was made to urgently evacuate Yair Netanyahu and his security team back to Israel. The report was initially published by the Miami-based right-wing news site Newsmax, which has featured interviews with both Yair and Benjamin Netanyahu in recent years.

Last week, Benjamin Netanyahu revealed in an interview with Channel 14 that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons but did not specify which one. According to an American source who spoke to Newsmax, Yair Netanyahu, aged 35 and residing at the time in Hallandale Beach near Miami, was the target. Israeli intelligence uncovered the Iranian plot in December and alerted U.S. authorities. Iranian operatives were reportedly "on the ground" in the Miami area, conducting surveillance on Yair’s residence and movements.

Yair Netanyahu, who is always accompanied by close Israeli security, was instructed to leave immediately without taking his belongings and returned to Israel, where he currently lives. Channel 12 reported that the assassination attempt was known to some media outlets for months but was under military censorship until now. Yair Netanyahu has spent extended periods in the Miami area and is known as a prominent conservative political commentator and vocal defender of his father. Benjamin Netanyahu has two sons, Yair and Avner, with Avner residing in Israel.
