Metula Mayor Says Netanyahu Is Out of Touch After Press Conference
Metula council head David Azulai criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after his press conference, saying he was shocked by the tone of the remarks and by what he called the continued neglect of Israeli civilians. Azulai said Netanyahu appears disconnected from the reality faced by northern communities still dealing with the aftermath of war and displacement.
Azulai invited the prime minister to visit Metula and see the destruction up close. He said Netanyahu should look at “the destruction of the villages, of the population, the departure, the residents who are in post-trauma,” and hear directly about children who hid under tables during air raid sirens.
According to Azulai, the town is carrying out recovery work with about 70% of its budget coming from donations. He argued that this dependence on charitable funding shows how disconnected the government and its leader are from the needs of affected residents.
