Russia Threatens Military Strikes on British Targets Over Ukraine Support

Russia has escalated its rhetoric by threatening to attack British military targets both inside and outside Ukraine. On Thursday, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, warned that Britain’s support and military aid to Ukraine could provoke Russian strikes. Zakharova urged Britain to abandon what she called its hostile stance toward Ukraine, which she claimed risks escalating the conflict to new levels. She also accused Britain and France of "playing with fire" by supplying Ukraine with sensitive missile technology.

This threat follows British Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s announcement on Monday that the UK government will grant Kyiv access to classified technology to begin domestic production of Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles, capable of striking deep into Russian territory. France has already approved licensing for this European missile technology. The move represents a significant increase in Western military support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war.

Zakharova’s comments come amid broader geopolitical tensions, with Turkey reportedly moving toward resuming its F-35 fighter jet deal with the United States, a project in which Israel is also involved. The situation underscores the widening international dimensions of the Ukraine conflict and the risks of further escalation between Russia and Western nations.
