Beloved Security Guard of Kiryat Ye'arim Talmud Torah Dies Suddenly at 60

A wave of shock and sorrow swept through the Kiryat Ye'arim community on Thursday morning with the sudden passing of Rabbi Nahum Levi at age 60. Rabbi Levi collapsed at his home on Rabbi Yitzhak Street before leaving for morning prayers. Emergency responders performed advanced resuscitation efforts but were unable to save him.

For many years, Rabbi Levi served as a security guard appointed by the local council at educational institutions in the settlement, notably at the Tiferet Yehuda Talmud Torah. He was a well-known and beloved figure among hundreds of students and residents, recognized for his warm smile and kind words to every child entering the school.

Passersby often saw him using spare moments to study Torah and recite Psalms, embodying humility, modesty, and genuine reverence for God. His death leaves a profound sense of loss among his family, friends, and the entire community.

His funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Eretz HaChaim Cemetery on Road 38, where he will be laid to rest. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
