El Al signs Starlink deal to offer free in-flight internet
El Al announced that it has signed an agreement with Starlink, the SpaceX subsidiary that provides high-speed satellite internet. Under the deal, El Al will install Starlink internet systems on its aircraft and use them to offer free connectivity to passengers.
The airline said the installations are scheduled to begin in 2027. Until now, the only airline in Israel to offer free internet to members of its loyalty club was Delta, which has not flown to Israel since the war with Iran broke out in late February 2026 and is not expected to return to Ben Gurion Airport before September 2026.
Starlink operates its network using low-Earth-orbit, or LEO, satellites to deliver broadband internet during flight, supporting streaming, remote work, digital services and more. El Al said the system will let passengers stay continuously connected throughout the journey and enjoy an in-flight internet experience similar to being at home.
El Al CEO Levi Halevy said the airline is continuing to invest in improving the travel experience and in advanced products for customers. He added that bringing Starlink technology to El Al aircraft is a major step forward, allowing passengers to stay connected in the air, stream live content and keep working and communicating smoothly without interruptions.
