MK Tzvi Sukkot Destroys Terrorist Memorials in West Bank Villages After IDF Inaction

MK Tzvi Sukkot took independent action on Monday morning to dismantle memorials dedicated to terrorists in the West Bank villages of Madama and Burin near Yitzhar. This followed his earlier request to the Israeli Defense Forces to remove these monuments, which was not implemented. The memorials honored Palestinian attackers responsible for deadly assaults on Israelis, including Yaman Tayeb Ali Faraj, linked by the Supreme Court to the deadly Geha Junction attack that killed four Israelis and injured over 20.

Another memorial removed by Sukkot in Burin commemorated Hamdan Hussein Mahmoud al-Najar, who killed an Israeli civilian and a soldier in a 1988 attack near Har Bracha. Sukkot's initiative came after a report by "The Jewish Voice" revealed that these villages hosted events around the memorials, distributing sweets to local children and glorifying the terrorists.

Sukkot emphasized that allowing public memorials for those who harmed Israelis in areas under Israeli security control is unacceptable. He stated that beyond removing physical structures, it is crucial to prevent the glorification of terrorists and the legitimization of violence among the younger generation. "I demanded the army remove these memorials days ago, but since they remained, I acted myself," he said. He warned against turning murderers into heroes and stressed the need to fight terrorism both physically and ideologically to stop the next generation from idolizing terror.

Sukkot highlighted the heavy price paid by many Israelis due to attacks originating from these villages and vowed to prevent the normalization of terror memorialization in public spaces under Israeli control.
