IDF Graduates First Cohort of 41 New Ground Forces Commanders from Elite Erez Program

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently celebrated the graduation of 41 new ground forces commanders from the inaugural class of the Erez program, a unique three-year training course. This comprehensive program included commando training, a bachelor's degree, advanced military courses, and operational leadership experiences across various combat zones. The graduates received the prestigious Erez wings and are set to continue their officer training within the IDF's ground forces units.

The graduation ceremony featured remarks from key military leaders, including IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir and Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Tamir Yadai. Yadai emphasized the program's goal to cultivate a new generation of commanders who combine professional excellence with deep strategic thinking and national responsibility. He highlighted that these 41 officers are not only the first to complete the program but also the first to take on battlefield leadership roles.

Brigadier General (res.) Yuval Bezek, head of the Erez program, reflected on the pioneering nature of the course, stating that the program is shaped by its first cohort rather than the other way around. He underscored that the strength of the military lies not only in its equipment but in the quality of its junior and company commanders. The graduates gained practical operational experience during their training, preparing them to lead effectively in various IDF ground forces branches.
