Retired Colonel Yoni Shtavon Condemns Givati Rebellion and Warns of Broader Security Risks

Retired Colonel Yoni Shtavon sharply criticized the recent incident at the Sde Teyman base, where dozens of Givati Brigade soldiers abandoned their weapons and deserted the post. Speaking on Channel 14's program The Patriots, Shtavon described the act as disgraceful and unacceptable, especially during wartime, emphasizing that such behavior damages Israel's image in the eyes of its enemies.

Shtavon warned that legitimizing this rebellion could also embolden other militant groups, specifically mentioning "Brothers in Arms" and the "Kahlan Force," implying that granting approval to one form of insubordination sets a dangerous precedent. He stressed that regardless of the reasons behind the soldiers' actions, desertion and rebellion are forbidden.

While affirming the show's ongoing support for soldiers fighting on the front lines, Shtavon insisted that there are clear limits to this support and that acts of rebellion cannot be condoned. He highlighted the risk that enemies are closely observing these events and that such internal dissent during wartime undermines national security and morale.
