Talz Stone Residents Launch Petition Over Unpaid Charity Funds

Residents of Talz Stone have launched a public petition demanding that the local council immediately transfer funds designated for local charities and needy families. The petition emphasizes the critical role these charities play throughout the year, especially during the holiday season when needs increase significantly. Residents are urging the council to expedite the necessary procedures to release the funds.

Adding to the pressure, Deputy Mayor Uri Fox sent a sharp public letter to Mayor Yitzhak Ravitz, demanding the immediate transfer of funds allocated for charities, the needy, and Torah scholars (avreichim). Fox stated that the council's 2026 budget includes provisions for aiding the needy and supporting avreichim, but these funds have not yet been disbursed.

Fox warned that the charities are "collapsing under the burden" and cited a recent emergency meeting where activists reported that many families are struggling to afford basic necessities. He claimed that one of the key reasons he supported the council's budget was the commitment to assist local charities, a commitment he alleges the mayor has since ignored.

In his letter, Fox criticized the council's priorities and demanded that Ravitz "immediately transfer the funds for the charities and support for the needy and avreichim." The local council responded dismissively, stating that two days before Sukkot and two days after Yom Kippur, they "do not want to deal with these foolishness and lies" and wished the public a happy holiday.
