Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging his decisions directly contributed to the Hamas attacks on October 7. Lieberman stated that Netanyahu's unilateral decision to allow Qatari "suitcases of cash" to enter Gaza for Hamas, despite warnings from the Aman military intelligence and Shin Bet security agency, led to the catastrophe.
Lieberman, who resigned as Defense Minister over this policy, claimed that Netanyahu was aware that these Qatari funds were reaching Hamas's military wing but continued to authorize the transfers of millions of shekels. He asserted that Israeli citizens paid the price for this policy on October 7.
The Yisrael Beiteinu leader also indicated that a state commission of inquiry will be established after the formation of the next government to determine the responsibility of all involved parties.
